William Birtwistle mentions, in his will of 1803, two houses in Great Harwood. let to Lawrence Walmsley and Joseph Cunliffe, and mentions his four sons James, Thomas, William and Robert and his four daughters, Ann wife of George Proctor, Elizabeth wife of James Fielden, Ellen wife of Joseph Cunliffe and Margaret wife of John Eddleston.
